RSS Menu 2.1 and the other updates

You may be wondering why since we released RSS Menu 2.1 we released 2 more updates in a very short amount of time?

The reason is simple to explain. In version 2.1 we changed the core of the Syndicated engine (our RSS and Atom feed parser). The change was necessary because we wanted to make it faster and ready for the future (which we can’t talk about right now).
Unfortunately, the change also brought some unexpected results in that many users where seeing some, if not all, of their feeds not being parsed, or in worst cases they would see a crash.

We are truly sorry about any inconvenience this has brought you and hope your trust in our products has not been altered in any way.

Currently we are working on RSS Menu 2.2 which will have some more changes but should not affect anything else that is working right now.

Some really cool announcements will be made soon…

If you haven’t already, go download RSS Menu 2.1.2 from the Mac App Store :)

RIP Steve Jobs

We are deeply saddened by the news about Steve Jobs passing away.
It is quite obvious that for us he was a source of inspiration, if not the biggest one. So the news was quite a shock for us.

We are really fortunate to have been part of Mr Jobs vision, working on apps for the Mac and iOS devices and will continue to do so.

Even though we expect nothing but the best from current CEO Tim Cook, Steve Jobs will always have a special place in our hearts.

Thanks Mr Jobs, you will be missed and never forgotten..

RSS Menu 2.0 is now available

It took us quite a long time to make this release possible but the day has finally come.

We are proud to present you RSS Menu 2.0, a brand new version of our famous RSS and Atom reader.
We’ve cleaned up the source code (almost 80% of the code is new and optimized) and added quite a lot of new features.

One of them is support for Google Reader, one of the most requested features. Other than that we added a new architecture that allows us to write integration plugins more quickly.
So we have added quite a few more: Twitter, Bonjour, …

Aside from the integration plugins, we also have integration to reading lists. We added the 2 most popular: InstaPaper and ReadItLater.

Furthermore, our parsing engine (called Syndicated if you want to know), has been cleaned up and now uses GCD (Grand Central Dispatch), a technology that allows the application to do things in the background among other things.

The wait was long, and the road was bumpy, but in the end it was all worth it.

Go get it now if you haven’t.

Oh, and as promised… version 2.0 is free for all our current customers. Please keep supporting our software!

Enjoy!

We know it’s taking too long, but RSS Menu 2.0 is coming very soon.

One last feature has been added and we think you will love it. We’ve had lots of requests for that and even though we hesitated in implanting it, it’s there.

You’ll soon see, just wait for it :)

Migration was successful

As you can see, we have successfully moved servers.

We used to be with Heroku, but due to traffic concerns, we have switch to the more powerful Dreamhost.

The download files will also move to Dreamhost, but that will happen later :)

What's next?

With RSS Menu picking up a steady pace on the Mac App Store, it is time for us to move on.

We are gonna start development of RSS Menu 2.0 very soon which will have a bunch of new features and enhancements.
Specifically what we plan to do is make sure that the way you read RSS feeds is as easy as possible. Currently we use tooltips to display the contents of a feed, but that’s not efficient enough and there’s so much that can be improved.

But it’s not just RSS Menu, there is at least one more app we want to bring to the Mac App Store. This app will be a challenge to get it right, but we’re going to do it.

Big things are coming your way and we couldn’t be more excited.

Please give us as much feedback as you can, it is more than welcome.

RSS Menu 1.13 released

We have some good news and some bad news.

A new version of RSS Menu has been released fixing a lot of bugs and adding some new features you all might be very interested in.

However, we have decided to put it on the Mac App Store from now.
So starting today, you can get RSS Menu 1.13 via the Mac App Store for only $1.99
This also makes RSS Menu only available for Intel Macs. With Snow Leopard being the most used version of Mac OS X and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion coming soon, we think this was the next logical step.

We love RSS Menu and it has been our most successful product ever and we want to keep it that way. With the Mac App Store we can reach a much wider audience and let them know about the existence of this app.

Many of you may hate us for charging money for it, but the reality is that software development is expensive. And honestly the donations we were receiving were not enough to keep this project alive (hence the delay between previous versions).
We are very grateful to those who did make donations though.

Besides, we are not asking that much and it will give us enough motivation to continue with this project.

And yes, RSS Menu 2.0 will be free for those paid users.

ComicsLib 1.5 released!

We just uploaded a new version of our comics organizer to the App Store.

This version brings back the releases feature and allows for iTunes file sharing (instead of the old Manager).

It should be available soon.

Welcome!

It took us longer than expected, but we are finally there. Our new website has been relaunched and is now live.

The only thing that is not fully complete is the products page, but we’ll work on that asap.

Thanks for your patience!
